Summary

All Visual Adjustment tests are passed. Furthermore, the user can adjust line height, text alignment, horizonal and vertical margins. Page turning animations can also be disabled. Evaluation results for app version 1.0.0-1038. Tested on a Pixel 6 smartphone running Android 12.

Pass The main menu is invoked in from the reading view by tapping in the middle of the display. In the revealed panel at the bottom of the screen is the cog button for settings. Font scale ranges from 70% to 400%. Pinching gesture in reading view zooms the page without reflow. It could be nice if instead this changed the font scale value.

Pass The Settings panel offers three themes: publication default, sepia and dark. Greyscales ore offered if the option "Use device light/dark mode" is selected. More color theme options would be appreciated by some users.
visual-210 Change brightness Use the controls available in the application or else in the operating system to change (increase/decrease) the screen brightness. Pass This was achieved in the device settings menu.
visual-310 Apply high contrast system configuration The reading system interface and book content except images should respect the high contrast mode (invert colors) if present in the Operating System. Pass High contrast worked as expected with the app (although images were also affected).
visual-410 Magnify the User Interface(UI) Use the controls available in the application or else in the operating system to magnify the Reading System screen. All aspects of the User Interface such as Menus, Pop-up Windows, Dialog Boxes and Search Box should get magnified uniformly. Pass This was achieved using the built in Android magnifier feature.
visual-510 Change Font Choose from a selection of fonts, including sans-serif and serif options. Pass In the Settings menu the Font family includes several serif and sans serif options.

Note that visually Paragraph 2 is placed to the left of Paragraph 1 but it is second in the reading order. Pass The test is read as expected.

Pass When Read aloud is activated, there is a button on the right of the panel at the bottom of the screen, showing three vertical dots. This reveals a read aloud settings panel, including speech volume, playback rate, language, voice, highlight color.
ReadAloud-510 Text to Speech handles punctuations and document structure appropriately When Read Aloud is activated, there should be slight pauses after headings, list items etc., rather than reading as if it is one continuous section of text. Pass The text is read with appropriate pauses and phrasing.

ReadAloud-710 The emphasis or highlight colour can be changed Activate Read Aloud feature as described in the previous test. Change the colour of emphasis or visual highlight of the text being read aloud using any feature available in the reading system or the operating system. The users should have a choice of different colours for text highlighting. Pass The highlight color can be selected from a choice of seven options. It is not possible to disable the visual highlighting. This may be appreciated by some users.
